  2.  The FT-8000R Expanded TX Mod

  4.  Behind the front panel (LCD Display) of the radio were the
  5.  Lithium battery is soldered. You will see a PC board similar
  6.  to the one below. There is a row of 15 jumpers. There is a
  7.  larger component on the 4th and 6th position from the left.
  8.  If you remove the component at the 6th from the left position
  9.  and reset the radio you will have expanded TX. This does not
  10.  open the cellular block on the radio. It may be controlled by
  11.  one of the other jumper locations on this row of 15.

  33. I own a yaesu ft-8000 and I have discovered a design flaw that has been
  34. confirmed and admitted by yaesu.  If you happen to get near a strong
  35. R.F. field such as a c.b. radio operator with a linear or a truck
  36. driver with a linear you may have very low receive on two meters. What
  37. happens a F.E.T blows in the front end of the radio. The repair of the
  38. radio is easy! Yaesu will even supply you with the parts for free! If
  39. you are interested in posting this information please contact me at

  41. ham radio operators over the net with the same radio and I have helped
  42. them out saving them at least $80.00 on the repair of their radio so I
  43. figured why not pass the info around. Actually, yaesu should do a
  44. massive recall because its a faulty circuit designed by them and they
  45. have admitted it to me over the phone. The have sent me a copy of the
  46. in house tech trouble shooters tech notes which lists the problem and
  47. solution.
